| | | | Porsche 911 Intake System - Page 2 | Intake Hoses and Sleeves | | Many fuel injection problems can be caused by vacuum leaks within the intake hoses. Air boots are especially susceptible to cracking. Often, replacing an intake boot can cure a variety of problems including rough idle, poor fuel economy and backfiring. Make sure that yours are not worn out or cracking, and replace them with new ones if they are. |

| $7.50 | | Air Flow Meter | | The air flow meter measures the mass of air that is entering the engine. This measurement is required so that the proper amount of fuel can keep the operating fuel mixture as close to optimum as possible. The air meter has an delicate internal flap that can be easily damaged by backfires, or screwdrivers stuck into the wrong places. The air flap is attached to a delicate potentiometer that generates a variable signal that depends upon how far the flap is opened. If this flap is damaged, or becomes stuck, then the computer will not be able to detect the amount of air entering the engine, and performance will suffer greatly. |

| $339.75 | | Idle Control Valves | | The idle control valve control valve adjusts and maintains the proper idle for the car whether it's cold or hot. Based on temperature sensors in the engine, the valve opens automatically to allow more airflow into the engine while cold, keeping the engine supplied with more air until it reaches a certain temperature. If the unit goes bad, it can cause rich running, idle fluctuation and hard starting. |
