Turbo Cut-Off Valve |
| A diverter valve, also referred to as a "pop off valve", "blow off valve", "boost re-circulation valve", "air/boost bypass valve" is designed to re-circulate the boost pressure that gets built up in the intake manifold in between shifts. The valve at idle (under vacuum) will remain open allowing the air to circulate freely through the intake to the turbo (s) fresh air side. As soon as the throttle is cracked, ie: the accelerator pedal is moved, the valve will be forced shut stopping the re-circulation of intake air to the turbos and allowing all the boost pressure to enter the motor. The OEM valve is what is commonly known as a diaphragm valve. This valve has been around since the mid 80's and has always been a very problematic part that typically wears out within the first 6 months of operation. | Loctite 574 Case Sealant |
| The Loctite 574 sealant is an orange gooey sealant that cures in the absence of air. When you assemble your case and mate the case halves, you will have some squeeze-out that will collect at the case halves. If you leave this excess sealant exposed to the air, you will find that it will not harden. While this may cause you some head scratching, you shouldnt be concerned, as the sealant is designed to seal within tight clearances, and between metal surfaces. Despite the fact that it appears that the Loctite 574 is not curing because the squeeze-out has not hardened, it has in fact properly sealed between your two case halves. |

| Liqui Moly Anti-Seize Compound |
Anti-seize compound is used to help prevent galling of steel studs under extreme heat conditions. Studs that are particularly vulnerable to galling are the exhaust and head studs. I recommend using anti-seize on your head studs and exhaust studs during the rebuild process.
It is important to note that Porsche doesnt recommend the use of anti-seize compound on spark plugs, as detailed in Porsche Technical Bulletin 9102, Group 2, identifier 2870. The bulletin applies retroactively to all Porsche models and the theory is that the anti-seize tends to act as an electrical insulator between the plug and the cylinder head. This could have detrimental effect on the firing of the spark due to the loss of a good, consistent ground connection. |

| Loctite RTV Silicone |
| Black Loctite 598 is an OEM-grade high-temp silicone that is useful for sealing the small o-rings on the case through-bolts. The black color will blend in easily with your case, and will provide added protection against leaks at this interface. Temperature range is -75°F to 625°F (-59°C to 329°C) intermittent. Low odor, non-corrosive, low volatility. Resistant to most chemicals and solvents. Fills gaps to 0.25". |
