Piston Rings

Piston rings act to create a sealed chamber for compression and also to control oil flow inside a cylinder. When replacing piston rings, have your cylinders honed to ensure proper seating of the rings.

Valve Guides    Camera Pic

You should always replace your guides when rebuilding your heads. The newer style valve guides are highly reliable, reduce friction and wear, and they look real cool too.

Valve Springs

When rebuilding your heads, you should always replace the springs. We have seen broken springs come close to destroying a recently rebuilt motor. New springs are inexpensive insurance against catastrophic failure.

Valve Stem Seals

These are the small seals that mate at the top of the valve stem. They act to keep oil from leaking into the cylinder. If you have a small amount of white smoke while starting your car in the morning, it could be bad stem seals.

Valve Cover Gaskets

These gaskets should be replaced every time that you adjust your valves. You should also put a little gasket sealer on the inside of the cover where the gasket mounts to the cover. This should prevent the oil leaks that sometimes occur when there isn't a really good seal. Buy an extra pair or two to have on hand next time you adjust your valves!
