Porsche 911 (1974-89)

Shift Couplers
Replacement of the coupler or bushings is easy. Simply remove the access panel behind the rear seats, or jack the car up and get at them from underneath. While you're at it, check the condition of the protective coupler boots, and also the coupler cone set screws. You can replace the shift bushings by pressing out the large pin in the center of the coupler (be careful not to bend the aluminum housing). Our coupler bushings fit snugly around the shaft, unlike the factory bushings that allow a specific amount of free play.

Virtually eliminate shift coupler free play or bushing deformation with these brass shift coupler bushings! These pieces are machined to tight tolerances, creating a direct link between the shift rod and transmission with virtually no play or isolation. The result is a marked improvement in crispness and precision in the shifter and an increased feel and feedback from the transmission. The improvement over the OEM bushings is quite comparable to U-joint type replacements. Installation instructions are included. Fits factory shift coupler #911-424-024-04.

WEVO Shift Coupler Joints
The WEVO Stock 911 PSJ is a direct bolt-in replacement for the original Porsche shift coupler used in 911s from 1965 to 1986 and 930s from 1975 to 1988. It is manufactured from a 1" diameter alloy steel universal joint with hardened pins and pin bores. The joint is oversize to achieve maximum durability and virtually eliminate the slop felt in the original 911 and 930 shift couplers. A custom neoprene boot is fitted over the joint to prevent dirt and debris from damaging the internal linkages. The boot can easily be removed for inspection and cleaning when necessary.

The transmission side of the joint is attached to the transmission using the original M8 conical nosed set-screw from the stock coupling. The shifter side of the WEVO Stock 911 PSJ is inserted inside the shift tube, using a stump with O.E. style parallel knurling and is retained by the original pinch clamp. The joint is zinc plated for corrosion protection and comes lightly lubricated and ready to use. The WEVO Stock 911 PSJ can be installed and adjusted in just minutes.

The WEVO G50 Carrera PSJ is a direct bolt in replacement for the existing shift coupler on 198789 3.2 liter 911 Carreras and 1989 911 Turbos. The coupler requires no adjustment and is quick and easy to install new hardware necessary for installation is included in the kit. A Heavy Duty 1" joint with hardened steel pins and bearing faces is practically maintenance free. Additionally, the removable Neoprene boot allows for inspection, cleaning and lubrication.

NOTE: The WEVO G50 Carrera PSJ eliminates the O.E. rubber diaphragm coupler that is used as part of the NVH isolation in the stock shifter mechanism. However, for this reason, the level of noise being transmitted into the driver compartment is increased. Many other factors determine the actual increase and drivers seeking to maintain O.E. levels of cabin noise are encouraged to consider this carefully before purchasing or installing the WEVO G50 Carrera PSJ.
