Oxygen Sensors

The oxygen sensor actively measures the exhaust output from the engine in order to determine the proper mixture for the car. If you are having trouble adjusting the mixture on your car to proper levels, there is a high chance that you may have a faulty oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor is located before the catalytic converter because the air/fuel mixture ratio cannot be accurately calculated after the exhaust gases have been processed through the CAT. It's also highly recommended that you check out our Pelican Technical Article on Replacing Oxygen Sensors.

Oxygen Sensor Removal Tools
Are you having trouble removing the oxygen sensor? Many times, it is not possible to get a wrench or socket around the sensor due to its location in the exhaust. Once again, Pelican has your answer. This special tool allows you to remove the oxygen sensor using a standard 3/8" drive ratchet, simplifying an otherwise difficult job.

Air Mass Sensors

The air flow sensor (meter) measures the amount of air that is flowing into the engine manifold. This sensor is critical to obtaining the proper air/fuel mixture. If you car has recently backfired, you may have damaged the sensor flap that measures the air flow into the engine.

Sensors

This section contains various sensors needed in your car. Sensors are devices that measure a measurable attribute and convert it into an electronic signal.

Idle Control Valves

Similar to the auxiliary air valve, the idle control valve control valve adjusts and maintains the proper idle for the car whether it's cold or hot. Based on temperature sensors in the engine, the valve opens automatically to allow more airflow into the engine while cold, essentially like a choke on an old carburetor, keeping the engine supplied with more air until it reaches a certain temperature. If the unit goes bad, it can cause rich running, idle fluctuation and hard starting.
