The A/C evaporator works similar to a radiator as it allows air from the blower fan to pass through it. When the air passes through, the refrigerant inside cools the passing air. The now cold air is then channeled through the A/C vents, cooling you down during a hot summer. At the same time it allows the liquid refrigerant inside the system evaporate back into a gaseous state.

A/C Safety Pressure Switches
Along with the Receiver Dryer, it is recommended that you replace the Safety Pressure Switch anytime you open up the A/C system. This switch is used to disable the operation of the A/C compressor when there is too much or too little refrigerant in the system, preventing possible damage to the A/C compressor.
