Flywheels and Related Parts  |
| Whenever you have to replace the clutch assembly in your E36 BMW, it is recommended that you have your flywheel resurfaced. As the clutch disc wears, it forms grooves and high spots on the face of the flywheel. Resurfacing the flywheel helps the new clutch disc to seat correctly, preventing it from slipping. In cases of extreme clutch wear, the flywheel cannot be re-surfaced and a new one must be purchased. These new units from Pelican come pre-surfaced, so all you have to do it bolt it on! It's also highly recommended that you replace the flywheel seal and bolts at the same time. New seals and bolts are cheap insurance against possible catastrophic clutch failure. |

| For those of you looking to take your clutch setup one step further, we here at Pelican are pleased to offer these lightweight aluminum flywheels from MPD Motorsports. What are the benefits of an lightweight flywheel? By decreasing the amount of rotational mass on the crankshaft, you allow the engine to spin up to redline faster, resulting in better acceleration and performance from your BMW. These performance flywheels only weigh 8 lbs., much less than the heavy factory flywheels. These flywheels can be used in conjunction with either the stock clutch assembly or the Centerforce clutch kits. |
