Sounds like its just one of those PITA deals. I'll be doing this soon on my 951 restoration. I'll fwd this to Wayne as he may want to put it on the FAQ page. I know there are allot of things just not covered in any of the manuals. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you in the future. james Kelley Fitzgerald wrote:  James- I solved the problem and finished the clutch job.  For the benefit of others, this is what you have to do: Once you've dropped the transaxle and loosed the center tube (it has stops to prevent movement in both directions) you have to loosen and lower the aluminum cross brace (it has the emergency brake cables attached).  This allows you to rotate the center tube 180 degrees and push it back past the stops.  But, it won't go back far enough to remove the bell housing.  You then have to remove the transaxle mount support.  This allows the center tube to go back farther, allowing removal of the clutch housing............It helps to remove the shift rod, its easy enough to do. This is the first 944 with the single transaxle mount that I've replaced a clutch in.  And I thought it was a fun job in the older cars! Thanks for your fast response.  I'd be more than happy to share other tips not found in any manual about 944s.  My email address is JBOWSERMIE@AOL.COM. Jon Bowser
