I don't know about the oil drain plug. If there is a specialty sender made just for that, I might think about it, but if it's just a plug with the "right" threads, it may stick down too far and get YANKED on by passing debris... 8^( They make dipstick-mounted senders for Bugs, you might try checking that as well. In fact, look over all the stuff they do for Bugs, as some of it actually applies to our cars. Just remember that Type IV is not quite the same as Type I. It's even more different than the 356/912 motor is! >On the regulator, which of the three wires would you use to illuminate the >dash warning light? Urgh. Not sure. It *might* be the field wire, but then again it might be the "+" reference wire. Check the (color!!) wiring diagrams on the Pelican Parts website. I think it's under the "914 parts diagrams" page. One of the wires is connected to the light by way of the relay board. The other side of the light is connected to the "switched power" output from the ignition switch. Good luck! --DD Dave Darling 74 914 2.0 (decapitated) darling@simlab.arc.nasa.gov "OFF WITH ITS HEADS!"
