I would think that the 1.7 system would work better. It's a bit more like the 1.8 in terms of displacement and overall power than the 2.0 stuff is. It is also, in general, cheaper to buy and install. Either way you're looking at a large-ish chunk of change. You'll probably need the FI fuel pump (usually removed in carb conversions), and the FI distributor--the 1.8 distributor will not work with the 1.7 or 2.0 FI. Not sure about the "tweaking" necessary. An air: fuel mixture meter or gauge would come in handy. There is an article on the Pelican website about making a meter, and other places sell them for not-too-hideous amounts of money.
