Palo Alto Speedo (and most likely their sister shop, N. Hollywood Speedo) replace a circuit board in the tach with one from a newer tach. To the tune of $176, which is pretty expensive. But it is quality work. Other places (Pelican Parts has a service) will check and replace individual components, usually for somewhat less money. On Diddler's comment about replacing a spring, I'm not sure that applies to the electronic tachs in the 914. It may apply to earlier tachs from 356es and Bugs (and others) that are entirely mechanical, but almost all of the internals of the tach I took apart were electronic. There *are* 914 tachs out there that don't bounce. I got one from a list-member, before I had my bouncy one repaired by PA Speedo. --DD Dave Darling 74 914 2.0 (VROOM!) darling@simlab.arc.nasa.gov <--- OR ---> ddarling@wgss.com "914: The Porsche Picnic Basket.
