They haven't been proven to cool as well, and some a little corrosive (hard on expensive parts). I would make sure the system is leakfree and fully charged with R12. You can add the bulkhead vent kit to improve air flow, and make it significantly cooler. Hope this helps, Bob at Pelican Parts
