I sent it to him already, but you may wish to post it on our site. Clutch Cable Replacement—Early 911/912 1. From inside the car, pull back the front of the carpet (or if you have a really older 911, the rubber mat) over the tunnel, so you can access the clutch clevis through the hole in the front of the tunnel. 2. Loosen the clevis lock nut. 3. Flip the locking tab on the clutch clevis pin up, and withdraw the pin to the right side. 4. Remove the clevis from the clutch pedal arm, and unscrew the clutch cable clevis from the end of the cable. If the cable is broken (completely separated), pull the front end out now. 5. From underneath the car, loosen the clutch cable lock nut, remove the cable from clutch actuating arm and pull the cable out. 6. Lubricate the new cable liberally with grease and insert it into the guide tube from underneath the car. 7. From inside the car, screw the lock nut and clevis onto the front end of the cable, only so far that the end of the cable is even with the inside of the yoke of the clevis. 8. Insert the clevis pin to retain the clevis to the end of the clutch pedal arm as before. Tighten the lock nut. (It’s a good idea to use a new clevis and clevis pin—they are cheap but a PITA if they break). 9. Replace the carpet. 10. From underneath the car, reattach the cable to the clutch actuating arm. 11. Adjust the free play so you can pull back on the clutch pedal from its resting position 20--25mm. A spare clutch cable, clevis and pin are excellent parts to keep in the car. When the cable breaks a long way from nowhere, the local parts store likely won’t have one. With the tools in the standard Porsche kit, you can change the cable without even jacking up the car if necessary. Bob at Pelican Parts
