It is the 3 X 5 X 2 finned box in the driver's side rear of the engine compartment. If it is functioning, you will hear a soft but high-pitched whine from it when the key is on. There are a couple of excellent systems to replace the original CD unit, and they are much less expensive. We like the MSD-6000. The MSD-6000 unit helps increase performance by triggering multiple sparks over the combustion period. Standard ignition systems fire a single spark that must propagate across the swirling gases in the combustion chamber. The MSD-6000 unit fires many sparks continuously across the 20 degrees of crank angle rotation in order to provide complete combustion within the chamber. HP increases of at least 10 percent can be achieved simply through the attachment of this unit. The unit also has an optional RPM limiter adjustment. Requires an adapter for use with the 911 electronic tachometer. Another excellent system in wide use is the Permatune. The Permatune CD units are a great replacement for the stock 911 ignition system. When installing a Permature unit, make sure that you also install a new Bosch coil. The Permatune units are also available with or without coil circuitry built-in. Having the circuitry built-in to the box increases performanace, efficiency, and ignition system reliability. Call Tom at 1-888-280-7799 and he will set you up with either of these. Wayne at Pelican Parts wrote: > Hi there.
