Pricey for an O.K. fit
Purchased this to use instead of the cheap steel one I had that fit a little on the loose side as I didn't want to damage the cover. While it did fit nice and snug it still managed to slip slightly on the cover during removal which reguired me to lock the nut section of the socket in a vise in order to jiggle the cover loose. It did the same when torqueing to spec. The cover itself did not appear to show signs of previous damage and the car has only had 2 previous oil changes.

Might be for just 997.1
I thought I needed this for my 2012 997.2 oil change since the description says '997 (2005-)' but this wrench tool is MUCH too small to fit. It wasn't even close which makes me think this isn't meant for a 997.2. I don't know if it is actually meant for a 997.1, but if you have a 2011 or 2012 997.2, this isn't the tool you want. I can't speak for the tool rating but the description is not correct which is why I'm giving it 3 stars.
Followup from the Pelican Staff:   Yes, this tool fits only the first generation 997 vehicles.

awsome tool
The last time I changed my oil I purchased an oil filter removal tool from the local auto parts store. Although it said it was the right size all it did was slip. I had to use a strap removal tool which wasn't easy. I guess I learned my lesson...The best tools give the best results!

This is not for 997.2.
The description of this product is misleading. It should say (2005-2008). If you have 997.2, do not buy this.

The right tool for the right job.
I tryed the cheap ones from auto stores, but they just slipped right off. When I used the OEM wrench it fit right and it worked great. Great wrench.

Perfect Fit
A must have tool for the DIY Porsche mechanic. This offers the perfect fit on the oil filter housing without any loose play. Made from thick and durable aluminum this product is very well constructed.

Quality Tool
Nice, quality made tool. The fit on the filter housing I removed was not great. The housing twisted inside the wrench and needed a little persuaionto get out of the wrench. The fit of the wrench on the new housing was perfect. The price of the tool is spendy but it should last forever.

Oil Filter Removal tool
This worked very well. I am a novice mechanic but love working on my p car. I used a 3/8" drive that fits into the hole on tool to remove the filter. Came off very easy. Highly recommend this product. Worth the money, as it saves time.

Oil filter wrench
Works great. A snug fit, so I recommend making sure the oil and dirt on the exterior plastic oil cartridge be completely wiped off before sliding the tool over it.

German made Hazet (kind of German Snap-On equivalent) tool. 3/8" drive fits torque wrenches and rachets plus 27mm hex. Higher quality than similar sheet metal stamped tools available from local stores. It costs more cause it ain't cheap & will last you too. Recommended.

Finally an easy solution
Getting the filter housing off was the single hardest thing in the oil change. This special socket makes it a breeze. The version I received looks a little different than the one pictured here. It has a 3/8" driver hole in the center of a 26 or 27mm socket (don't know which, I haven't got one big enough yet), so you can choose how to drive it. If you have a longer socket wrench, you will probably need to drive via the socket in order to have wrench clearance around the engine.

Fits 987 Boxster S
Note that you'll need a 27mm socket to use this end cap wrench.
Worked fine on my 2006 Boxster S; 4 stars because it's very expensive.
