Repair scrapes on bottom of bumper when removed

In this article, I'll go over the steps involved with removing the front bumper cover. Removing it is required to service the radiator cooling fans, A/C condenser, horns, and headlight washers. Try to have a friend or helper around when removing the bumper cover, this will help avoid damaging the paint finish.

Working at left and right lower corners of inner fender well, remove bumper wheel well liner 8mm fasteners (green arrows).

Working under the front bumper, remove trim panels clips (green arrows).

Working under the front bumper, remove trim panels clips (green arrows). I like to use a trim panel tool to lever them out. This photo shows the right side of the vehicle. Repeat the same steps for the left side.

Next, remove trim piece, grasp firmly on inside edge and pull top out of bumper cover.

Next, remove trim piece, grasp firmly on inside edge and pull top out of bumper cover. Once top is disengaged, remove trim piece from bumper. This photo shows the right side of the vehicle. Repeat the same steps for the left side.

Locate bumper bolt access holes at bottom of bumper.

Working through access holes, use a T50 Torx socket and a 1

Working through access holes, use a T50 Torx socket and a 1" extension to loosen bumper bolts. Then remove bumper bolt from bumper. This photo shows the right side of the vehicle. Repeat the same steps for the left side. With all fasteners removed from front bumper, slide bumper out enough to access electrical connectors for horn, foglights, ambient temperature sensor, and headlight washer hoses, disconnect applicable items.

Next, with help from a friend, slide bumper off support and remove.

Next, with help from a friend, slide bumper off support and remove. When removing, be careful not to scratch bumper cover or snag any previously disconnected items. To install front bumper, start by partially installing bumper while leaving enough space to access electrical connectors and hoses. Reconnect disconnected items. Slide bumper cover onto bumper supports and tighten bumper bolts. Install lower bumper screws and reattach wheel well liner to bumper. Install bumper trim and check bumper alignment with body.
