Clean under your seat.

The seat switches are mounted to the side of the front driver and passenger seats. The seat switches control fore, aft and height movement of the seats. These switches fail and wear out over time, leaving you with a non-functioning seat. I have seen cases where the switches have been stepped on by a child or hit with something and broken. If you are left to deal with any of these problems, this tech article will show you how to replace the seat switches. First you will have to remove the seat from the vehicle, then remove the seat trim to access the switches. While you have the seat out, take the time to grab all the items you may have dropped and not been able to reach, and clean any dirt and debris from beneath the seat.

Remove front seat. See our tech article on Seat removing.

Place seat on clean surface with backrest facing down. Protect seat from dirt and debris while removed from vehicle.

Working at rear of seat switch trim panel, remove Phillips head screw.

Working at rear of seat switch trim panel, remove Phillips head screw. (green arrow) If your seat does not have this screw, don't worry. I have only seen a few that have had the screw installed.

Next, disconnect seat switch trim panel retaining clips.
Figure 2

Next, disconnect seat switch trim panel retaining clips. (green arrows) Just pull up on the tab to release from clip. Be careful not to break while disconnecting.

Working at the front of the seat with switch trim panel removed, detach two retaining clips at the bottom of the trim panel.

Pull seat switch trim panel away from front of seat.
Figure 4

Pull seat switch trim panel away from front of seat. Now comes the tricky part. There is one more retaining clip you have to disconnect. It is located at top front of panel. I like to use a flathead screwdriver to release it. (green arrow) This photo shows the trim panel already removed, the following photo will illustrate how to release the clip.

Slide a flathead screwdriver down between the trim panel and the seat (green arrow) Pull the cushion away from trim panel, you will be able to see the clip noted in the previous photo.
Figure 5

Slide a flathead screwdriver down between the trim panel and the seat (green arrow) Pull the cushion away from trim panel, you will be able to see the clip noted in the previous photo. Press down with the screwdriver to release it. Once released, you may have to re-release the clips from Figure 3, depending if they have re-engaged or not. Remove seat switch trim panel from seat and place on soft surface with back side facing up.

Now you can remove the seat switches from trim panel.
Figure 6

Now you can remove the seat switches from trim panel. Use a small flathead screwdriver to release retaining tabs (green arrows), then pull switch out. To install new switch, slide into tabs and snap into place. You will hear the tabs engage with an audible snap.

To replace the lumbar control switch, release tab (green arrow) then remove switch from trim panel.

To replace the lumbar control switch, release tab (green arrow) then remove switch from trim panel. To install, snap into place. Reverse directions to reassemble switches and trim panel. Install seat and check seat function.

Followup from the Pelican Staff: We don't currently have that tech article. If we get a chance to perform the procedure, we will be sure to document it.

I would grab a repair manual. It will have the procedure, special tools and torque specs.
