1994 Dauer 962C

One More Time...

Three years after its last Le Mans victory, an unexpected change in the rules allowed Porsche's long-serving 962 to once again take part in the 24 Hours Race.  Beginning in December 1993, Porsche developed a GT1 version of the 962, building three examples.  Two 962s, entered by Dauer Racing were modified to meet the new GT1 racing rules - powered by larger engines but heavier, with smaller tires, different brakes and new aerodynamics with lessened ground effects.  To cap off the incredible fourteen-year career of the 962, the Dauer Porsches finished first and third, for Porsche's thirteenth Le Mans win and the 962's seventh.  The 1994 Le Mans race probably marks the last ever victory by a Porsche 962, but with the 962, one can never be sure...
