| $0.25 | | Power Steering Pumps | A whining power steering pump is usually indicative of internal wear, especially if it has been leaking. Once the pump has been run with its fluid level too low, wear is rapidly accelerated due to the lack of lubrication. Replace your old pump with a new or freshly rebuilt unit in order to maintain smooth and quiet steering. Core charges apply to all rebuilt units.
TECH BULLETIN: LF-20 model power steering pumps are slightly more prone to failure than LF-30 power steering pumps. For this reason, BMW has released a Service Bulletin that addresses the retrofitment procedure of an LF-30 pump in place of the original LF-20.
NOTE: Those interested in replacing an LF-20 power steering pump with an LF-30 model must order Pressure Hose #32-41-6-764-725, O-ring #64-50-1-468-463, and the appropriate LF-30 pump.
**If your car originally had a 32-41-6-760-036 (LF-20), you can replace it with 32-41-1-094-965 (LF-30).
**If your car originally had a 32-41-6-760-034 (LF-20), you can replace it with 32-41-6-756-582 (LF-30).
IMPORTANT NOTE: LuK will only honor power steering pump warranties provided the power steering fluid reservoir was replaced in conjunction with the pump. These reservoirs are designed with unserviceable filters that may cause premature pump failure due to reduced or restricted flow. For this reason, we recommend that the fluid reservoirs are always replaced in conjunction with ANY power steering pump service. |
