| BMW Z8 - Axles & Bearings - Page 1 |
| The axle shaft assembly is the direct mechanical link that transfers power from the transaxle to the rear wheels. They are designed to allow the axle to continue transmitting power from the differential to the wheels when moving up and down by means of a flexible link called a constant velocity or CV joint. Over time, the bearings in these joints wear, causing the axle to eventually fail. A faulty bearing can make a grinding or clicking noise, may cause the vehicle to shake while driving, or even prevent the axle from turning at all. |

CV Joint Grease |
| Remember to lube and pack your CV joints when you replace them. Pelican carries both the LubroMoly and the Swepco 101 grease for complete lubrication of your joints. Both are very good and very slippery. Each contains more than enough grease to effectively pack all four of your CV joints from completely dry. |
