Question: Where are the 914 serial numbers located, and how many of them are there?

Answer:
There are four chassis serial numbers on the 914. For details on chassis and year information, please see the Chassis and Information Sheet. The serial numbers are located in the following areas:

Front Fender. Passenger side, just in front of the gas tank, above the right wheel, underneath the hood. VIN number stamped into sheet metal. See Figure 1.
Inside front trunk. Near the passenger side on the side of the headlamp bucket housing. Metal plate attached to sheet metal. See Figure 2.
Lower left (driver side) corner of windshield. The standard place for VIN numbers. Located along the left side of the windshield trim. A small metal 'card' that is attached to the frame. See Figure 3.
Inside driver side door jamb. A sticker with the VIN number printed on it. See Figure 4.
Paint Code in driver side front door jamb. Shows the paint coding for the factory original color of the car. See Figure 5.
